Takito Kitchen is a six-year old, “award winning” modern taqueria (taco joint) in Wicker Park featuring Mexican-inspired cuisine with fresh ingredients & complex flavors, along with handcrafted margaritas; 100% gluten free menu & freshly squeezed juice margaritas :-). The approach is fun, sexy yet sensible, energetic yet contained, and flavorful beyond your expectations.
Mario Ponce (Gary, Indiana) grew up working in restaurants at the tender age of 13 years, and has never looked back. His vision was to create a contemporary/urban approach to Mexican cuisine, that would exceed guest expectations, and have them yearning for more. Going into it’s seventh (7th) year, Takito Kitchen continues to impress critics, and locals alike. Ponce shares with us “I’m always blown away, and subtlety pleased on how many people travel over an hour to visit Takito Kitchen.” As he opens his third restaurant location, he reminds us of what’s important as an employer: “people don’t care about how much you know, until they know how you care.” Perhaps that helps us understand why the culture in his business is outstanding.
The cuisine takes Mexican ingredients you’re familiar with, and dazzles your senses. We work with local farms in an effort to provide the freshest and in-season ingredients. We recently won Baconfest (against 83 comparable restaurants) with our Three Sisters Polenta. Our Crispy Fish tacos has been recognized as one of Chicagoland’s favorite taco. Our salsas are made fresh daily, and every tortilla is “made-to-order” crazy fresh.
“These are the best margaritas I’ve ever had.” We hear this a lot. We use fresh fruit in our margaritas, and we make our own salts. Our selection of Tequilas will impress aficionados.

The staff is genuinely friendly, smart and progressive (meaning, they are interested to impress, because we know the value of repeat guests).
